Going Green With Rain Barrels

Now that spring has finally arrived we look forward to the warm rays of the sun to warm us on the days when a chill slowly blows from the cold and still ice-covered lakes and ponds. Though it may officially be spring there are days when you feel the chill when the sun sets at the end of a beautiful day. Those type of days are usually enjoyed around a warm fire with a cup of hot chocolate and possibly some marshmallows. The days get longer and makes for more enjoyable time with family and friends.

Spring is a time when we begin the planning of flower gardens and lawn ornaments to beautify our yards and to have the lawn chairs and picnic tables cleaned and painted if needed. The leaves raked to maintain some semblance of order with the arrival of the new season. The rain gutters cleaned to keep the rain water in its place to prevent any type of back flow to the foundation of a home. It is an exciting and anticipating time of season as we look forward to the blooming and beautiful flowers to arise when they were nothing more than seedlings.

Rain barrels are put in place to collect the rain water to help water the plants and flower beds throughout the spring and summer. By placing rain barrels to trap the rain water, this will help to lessen the pressure of using water from your taps which has a dramatic effect on the water usage as some cities and towns are beginning to limit the use of water. With spring comes rain and it usually can be a wet one, with these barrels in place, they will save you enough to water your plants and what ever else you may need the water for. These barrels are usually in a 45 gallon size drum and are made of some type of hard resin plastic material. The price range will vary from store to store and the difference is not all that much, they are worth the investment and time in doing our part to alleviate some pressure from mother nature.

The summer season will surely provide us with plenty of water and with the rain barrels in their proper place, you can wash your home, vehicle and what ever else that may need cleaning. By early summer your flowers should be in full bloom and you will have more than enough to water them until the arrival of the cold season in late fall. Using these barrels is just one example in how we can do our part to save the precious water that can give life and take life as we have seen from other disasters in other parts of the world.

By using these rain barrels for other uses in our everyday lives we can help the environment and our community by setting an example for everyone else to see and hope that others will follow in buying rain barrels to save water.

Go Green To Clean The World

It seems like we are hearing news in the media about floods, tsunamis, earthquakes or a war that is happening in some foreign country every other day. The world seems to be on the brink of collapse or is this precious earth trying to tell us something? Maybe, mother nature is telling us that we need to look at the current world conditions and change our ways and help to prevent humanity from becoming extinct on this earth.

The rest of society is not too concerned for the time being until such a catastrophe is upon us, that is when we will react, when we could have been proactive all along, it will be a sad day indeed when fossil fuel and other valuable resources are depleted and gone.

Generating electricity through Nuclear power is a deadly one and has proven to be costly to the people of Japan and this will prove to the rest of the world that this method is too costly to human life and to the natural resources such as water to generate power in this fashion. The end result for this type of power is too dangerous and it seems to have proven it-self that containment is impossible, once leakage has happened. Imagine the scenario if a tsunami were to hit the shores of North America, could you imagine the panic or the lives lost if this became a reality?

Polar ice caps are slowly receding and melting every year, changes to the weather patterns are having a negative effect on the habitat in the far north of Canada. The Great White North may have to change the name to the “Great Green North”, only time will tell. Global warming is real and continues to be an issue with scientists that are closely monitoring the changes to the north in Canada. We continue to ignore the warnings from scientists about these negative effects to the animals' migrating patterns and the way of life it has impacted on the residents of the far north. I suppose the thinking is, “this has no effect on me or my family and why should I be concerned”, but how soon people forgot about the oil spill in the gulf and the negative impact they saw on Tv from this horrendous accident. That way of thinking has to change and it starts with us.

Using energy-efficient appliances is a start, but not enough, we need to take it one step further by using all the free and natural resources to help our environment and lessen the negative impact on the world. Inventions such as electric cars, wind mill farms and solar farms are a step to ensuring that our world will have a chance to live on for centuries and in the hopes of helping the earth for a cleaner and green world.

Steps can be taken to help and prevent any further damage to our environment by looking into green technology and learning how we can harness the natural resources for our benefit to warm our homes, generate free power and help to eliminate green house gas emissions into the environment.

Imagine what the world would be like if we all did our part in using green technology, waters, rivers and oceans would be much cleaner and safer, instead of having beaches closed due to contaminants being present in the water. The air we breathe would be cleaner and living in harmony with mother nature would make her a lot happier.

Green Living - Leaving A Positive Legacy

Wouldn't it be a beautiful world to live in where we would not have to worry about the air quality, air that should be clean and free from contaminants and toxins. To see the rising and setting sun instead of smog, indeed it is a sad and sorry state we live in now. Yet, we continue to ignore and avoid the real issues about the environment and catastrophes that have happened in the oceans and around the world. This trend may continue to happen and with the slow and sure depletion of fossil fuel the future appears to be very bleak.

The oceans are slowly being poisoned with toxins and oil as this will have dire and deadly effects on human life and with a glimmer of hope this can be prevented from happening in the future. For those that have earned a living from harvesting in the ocean this traditional way of life is now non-existent. What will become of these people who for generations have thrived and depended on the ocean for sustenance and forever destroyed within a matter of days. The entire area will be effected by this oil on the shores of beaches and sea life will be contaminated and extinction is a possibility to the oceans inhabitants.

Instead of spending billions of dollars for exploration on finding more fossil fuel to keep our world moving, why not spend it on green alternative energy. Imagine how the environment could be reverted over time and impede any further damage to this beautiful and precious world. Green energy is easily harnessed through solar panels or wind turbines and is one of the easiest ways to generating green power. The added benefits would be clean air, clean waterways and oceans, the possibilities of environmental accidents would be zero.

It may be a dream, but a dream that could turn into reality. It is never too late for changes as we should leave a legacy of beauty and a clean world for the next generation to see and be proud of. This generation has the capability and technology to change the current conditions we live in, but an unwillingness to implement and follow the lead of other countries that have been using alternative fuel and methods to harnessing natural green energy from free sources like the sun, wind and water.

There is a state in the US that is now using turbines to generate power and have placed these in ideal locations where there are currents to keep the blades in motion for a constant flow of green energy. And from tests and studies that have been done, it seems to be a success. Now this may not be the answer for everyone, but it is a beginning to using the simplest technology for generating free electricity and hopefully other states will soon follow and adopt this same method. It is not too late to do your part in helping the environment by going green as this can have some serious implications on the future if we do not act immediately.

Imagine the day you can see the sun clearly and breathe clean air into your lungs.

Going Natural For Green Energy

I'm sure you may have heard by now that Exxon has claimed to have run their wells dry and mother nature refuses to supply the oil giant any more black gold. It may not be a big issue for the time being, but it will be in the immediate future for the entire globe. An energy crisis is looming in the horizon and instead of pointing fingers and blaming one another, why not do your part in trying to solve the problem by using alternative energy sources for fuel.

In trying to look past the advancements that man has made, nature will still provide the needs of humans and will also take from man. But man has a tendency of intentionally over-looking the obvious to our fossil fuel crisis. It is now natures time to stop man from taking any further advantage of earths rich resources and stop the destruction of the land. Yet, no one will take responsibility in our current situation and the damage cannot be reversed or undone. We must start somewhere to prevent any further damage to our environment and try to help by doing as much as we can.

If you look up at the sun, why not access this yellow ball that can provide natural energy from its warm rays. These rays can be absorbed with solar panels and generates solar power, which can be converted into free electricity to run your home and everything else that requires electricity. If your outside and standing on a field of grass, are you aware about the energy beneath you deep in the ground? This energy below is warm that is heated by the core of the earth, but this type of energy is a bit expensive to access and requires a lot of work and time. It certainly does the job in heating your home and is very clean and friendly to the environment. This is called Geothermal and is very energy-efficient.

Step outside on your deck and feel the warm rays of the sun and the breeze on your face, that breeze you feel can be utilized to generate green energy from turbines. The fast rotating blades will generate a good amount of energy to sustain your home for any type of electrical uses as needed. There are a variety of wind turbines available on the market for your own personal use and can be set up in no time at all. The last and final natural energy to providing electricity into your home is Hydroelectric, and basically comes from dams and uses gravity from the falling water to generate the power. But the only real problem with this is that your local government owns most or all of these dams that generate the power. Which leaves us at their mercy as they can increase the energy rates and consumers end up paying for these increases.

So, where does this leave you as a citizen who may be without fossil fuel soon, who knows, this is basically up to you to find alternative ways of generating green power to your home and finding other means to fuel your vehicles. But that answer is also in front of you, if you look around especially at the farms. You never know maybe Exxon will eventually get into the alternative energy business and buy out all manufacturers and own all the materials and parts needed to generate natural energy.

Solar Panels Are Important For Everyday Use

It all started when man first discovered fire and had the intelligence to use fire to provide warmth and to cook their food. Fire also provided the means to protect themselves from larger and more ferocious animals and slowly adapted to keeping the fire for more than just warmth. Since then man has focused their interest on how they could use fire for other purposes other than to cook food. As time moved forward they began to use steam as a source for moving objects like ships and since then the idea of using the sun for fuel some how got lost and was soon forgotten.

Since the discovery of oil and its abilities for many uses this was the main focus and concentration to providing warmth in our homes and it was realized that this liquid could be used to make other products and make our life a little more convenient and easy.

Since solar panels absorb the rays from the sun to power a variety of electronics in and around the home we could use these rays to provide heat for our homes and not have to pay for any power from the privately owned power companies. The use of solar absorbing panels have been in use for quite some time now and were never fully utilized to provide natural energy into our homes for our own use.

Many solar panels come in a variety of sizes, shapes and their main function and purpose is to convert the suns rays into natural energy to provide free electricity. Solar cells or photovoltaic converts any light into green energy. These solar cells play an important role in generating and producing sufficient heat to our homes and to heat the water.

There are more and more solar panels appearing in urban areas and society appears to have accepted these as a way for generating free energy which does not emit any serious gases to our environment. They are clearly visible throughout the country and most farms have begun using this free and clean energy to self sufficiency. The sun should be taken advantage of for its natural resource of green energy, its ability to shine and provide free energy without having to fork over any money to any one.

By using green energy for all your electric needs you will definitely save money as you will never have to pay the utility company ever again. You can be sure about the sun rising and providing you free energy to power your home and never having to worry about any type of power interruption.

Natural Sources For Green Energy

With the increasing energy consumption and the depleting of the earth's non-renewable fuel source, ways of finding and using natural energy sources are in motion. Finding and using alternative fuel sources can be both beneficial and difficult. There are two sides to this and we will delve into the different aspects of alternative energy sources.

The advantage of natural energy is that it is renewable and it is sustainable and will never run out. This alternative energy produces no waste material that may pollute or harm our environment.

Countries are slowly using renewable energy as a major source of energy and showing economic benefits especially in many areas. All major projects are usually located away from urban city centers.

The downside to using renewable energy is that it is extremely difficult to generate a huge amount of electric energy similar to that of fossil fuels. Another common problem to alternative energy sources is the consistency of the natural energy supply. Since its naturally generated, green renewable energy supply relies on the meteorological conditions.

The other snag of alternative fuel sources is that it is a little more pricey to set up the equipment necessary to produce the needed and clean energy.

The sun is the greatest source of energy since it is free, efficient and reliable. It's then possible to get the maximum energy given by the sun and replace the electrical and gas companies. But there are boundaries, areas with hills, valleys and a high amount of rainfall are not able of producing natural solar energy.

Wind is a very reliable element to producing natural green fuel. It's more than likely that wind energy will replace up to 50 percent of the total natural energy consumption in the very near future. This type of natural energy produces no harmful gases and totally safe for our environment.

Although natural green energy is renewable, it does pose some small problems. But it is more promising than the harmful effects of fossil fuels. We may have to continue searching for a cost efficient and earth friendly natural energy source.

Going Green - Vegetables For Fuel

With the constant demand for oil, government and society began to realize that fossil fuel would eventually run out and in order to prevent pandemonium and panic at fuel stations, we had to come up with other forms of green energy that is earth friendly.

Using vegetable oils as a green energy source is a small step in the right direction to help in cleaning the air and hopefully prevent any further green house gas emissions which is slowly destroying our ozone. Unfortunately this is not enough, we as individuals can help and do our part by writing to government officials and make ethanol mandatory and made available at every gas station.

Ethanol fuel which is made from corn is natural, renewable, biodegradable and nontoxic. The benefits with using this type of fuel are that it does not emit any type of contaminants or pollution into the environment. It is much less expensive to use than regular fossil fuel.

Another way of producing ethanol is from sugar canes, and Brazil is the leading nation in making this type of fuel and also a leader in the export of ethanol. Aside from ethanol, some countries have also experimented with different recipes to create their own version of green fuel. Corn is the typical vegetable used to make this fuel in the US as sugar is not produced in massive amounts in the United States. In order for corn to turn to alcohol, it has to convert to sugar which can add extra costs and time for the process.

The country of Brazil has a sugar cane industry that is very efficient and can produce ethanol at a less expensive rate than the US. Other countries have not been so receptive to changing and using ethanol as this would be of great help to the problems of green house gas emissions.

North America is now manufacturing vehicles with fuel technology called flex-fuel, it is said that this will increase fuel mileage and save you money. It is also emitting non toxic exhaust into the environment and should not have any effects on the air we breathe. This is good and hopefully this trend will stay the course for as long as the sun will shine.

To use vegetables as a green energy source would be one less problem for the future generation and a great lesson for the so-called developed and industrialized nations.
